At Leeds Tutors, our goal is to support students of all ages with their Functional Skills English Level 2 qualifications. We can help you prepare for the exam and assist you in booking the actual exam.

A Functional Skills English Level 2 qualification is equivalent to a GCSE Grade C/4, and it allows you access to university courses, apprenticeships, and jobs. It is a recognised qualification, and you may be required to have it if you did not get a passing grade at GCSE. As many people have not studied English academically for many years, understanding the basics and comprehending the fundamentals of spelling, punctuation, and grammar is essential.

The Functional Skills English Exam has three different components: the Reading exam, the Writing exam, as well as, the Speaking Listening and Communication (SLC) exam. In the Reading exam, you will be assessed on your understanding of key texts and their purpose. During the Writing exam, you will need to show that you can utilise key language features. Our English Level 2 Tuition sessions focus on expanding our students’ reading/writing skills. You can have as many sessions as you need until you are confident in your knowledge. The SLC exam will assess your ability to communicate with other learners; you will be tasked with creating a short presentation on a given topic and engaging in Q&A sessions and a discussion task. You will need to demonstrate your ability to communicate, listen and speak effectively and appropriately.
