You can access the Functional Skills Level 2 Past Papers through multiple sites. Do be aware that the specification has changed since 2019. That means that any Past Papers from before then are not as relevant as the reformed ones. You can use Past Papers from any exam board as they all follow the same government-set specification and contain the same material. They may, however, differ in some aspects, such as the timing format for each section of the exam. Even though there are some differences, all exam board papers are useful revision materials and are great to track your progress.
We recognise that revision can be overwhelming for some learners; therefore, we suggest that you only start using the past papers once you are confident in the subject matter. If you use the Past Papers before you are ready, a negative result may be detrimental to your motivation and confidence. We recommend that you complete the Past Papers under timed conditions; this way your preparation will be as close to the real exam as possible. Mimicking the real exam is an effective way to help you manage your time. After you complete each Functional Skills Level 2 Past Paper, you can use the mark schemes provided to review your answers. Alternatively, you can ask your tutor to mark your Past Papers for you. Going through your answers with the mark scheme can help you see which areas you need to focus on; furthermore, it is a great way to see what the examiner expects from you for each question style. Initially, you do not need to focus on getting the pass mark – the Past Papers are there to help you improve your skills and knowledge. Over time, the more Past Papers you do, the more improvements you will see.
