Here at Leeds Tutor Company, we are always here for our learners no matter their age or skill level. We offer Functional skills level 2 equivalent qualifications for maths and English as well as the GCSE qualifications. These qualifications are most often used to get onto a higher education scheme like an apprenticeship or more commonly a university course. We find out about the learner and advise them which route would be best for them to take ensuring they are given the best chance with their career. As functional skills is a shorter course and generally people find it easier to pass, we normally recommend the functional skills level 2 equivalents, rather than the full GCSE’s.
The level 2 maths equivalent is around 35 topic areas which is tough at the start but once you build a foundation of knowledge your confidence levels will quickly rise. Once you have covered every topic area you should look to book your exam with an Ofqual regulated exam centre.
The level 2 English equivalent is taken most commonly by international students who haven’t already achieved a GCSE grade or an equivalent yet. An English GCSE or equivalent is mandatory in most jobs and courses.
