Leeds Tutor Company are part of the MME group who have been chosen as a DfE-Approved provider for the National Tutoring Programme. This is exclusive to schools so parents cannot enrol their children, it can only be done via their subject teachers. MME is offering NTP tutoring for GCSE aged students in subjects such as English, maths and science. Although this is targeted for GCSE students, this may be expanded in the coming months. What is the National Tutoring Programme?
NTP is a government initiative designed to help schools access funding for tuition to help improve students’ overall learning outcomes. To begin with it was started as a way to help students get back on track after the impact of the pandemic, however it has been extended due to the acknowledgement of how beneficial tuition can be.
How does the NTP funding work?
Schools are allocated £162 per pupil eligible for Pupil Premium. This can be spent on any student as part of the NTP. The funding is sent 3 times a year in September, December and April. Schools can claim 60% of the tuition cost up to £18 per hour per student.
Is the NTP tuition online or in person and is it in groups?
There are various options available, including 1-2-1 in person tuition and online group lessons. In terms of cost, 1-2-1 in person tuition is usually the most expensive option.
How does the dfe national tutoring programme make a difference?
The tuition given through the programme has shown to improve student outcomes with GCSE students who benefited from the scheme.
